Fillers vs Botox
Many of us think about treating our marionette lines with filler to create a more youthful and happier appearance; but then also think about treating a strong Depressor Anguli Oris Muscle with Botox to help reduce that “droop” in our smiles. Is it okay to get both fillers AND botox in the same area to get the happy appearance we want? And if so, which should we tackle first?
Turns out, the order of which we treat this area in conjunction with fillers and Botox other doesn’t really change the effectiveness of the treatments. Meaning, you can take the appropriate steps on your own time table.
Confused on the difference? Fillers “fill” the identified area with collagen to stimulate collagen growth; Botox reduces muscular activity that causes wrinkles. Meaning, both can get their own jobs done and avoid interference with each other. The time at which you perform either injection will not change the effectiveness of your results.
This means that we don’t have to make a monumental decision about the best way to handle a problem area. We can take one step at a time until you achieve the results that make you happy, or we can get both done rather close to each other to help eliminate the wrinkle and prevent the muscle from making the wrinkles worse. This good news also applies to the whole face; like if you’re thinking about treating crow’s feet, you can treat with both filler and Botox. Pressure’s off!
